Ryan Hallett was born on September 5, 1985 in northwestern Pennsylvania. His theatrical career began in fifth grade when he got one of the lead roles in his middle school's production of It's Saturday; from then on, he knew this was something he wanted to do. In eighth grade, Ryan began performing at the Erie Playhouse, the local community theater, and was a regular on their stage until he moved to New York in 2006. At General McLane High School, Ryan was often featured in the annual Broadway Dinner Theatre, and performed the role of Judas in Godspell during his senior year. That experience changed his life forever, and he is grateful for the opportunity to work with the cast and crew on the production.
After graduation from high school in 2004, Ryan attended Edinboro University for a semester, during which time he was cast as Conrad Birdie in Bye, Bye, Birdie. After leaving Edinboro, Ryan attended Gannon University in Erie, PA, where he graduated with degrees in both theatre and political science. At Gannon, Ryan performed in a number of benefit concerts, as well as Other Worlds Than These: An Evening of One Acts. His last role on stage in Erie was Harry Beaton in Brigadoon under the direction of David Matthews. In his final months in Pennsylvania, Ryan also directed a production of tick, tick... BOOM! at the Roadhouse Theatre, during which time he discovered his passion for directing.
Ryan moved to New York in July of 2006, and studied at the American Musical & Dramatic Academy for 2 semesters. When not auditioning, Ryan works for New York City Center. He is currently in rehearsals for his second New York production, Goldilocks. For more information, check out the news section.
